Corinthians boost top-four hopes with 2-0 win over Santos

SAO PAULO, Nov 21 (Reuters) – Jo scored one objective and made one other as Corinthians beat state rivals Santos 2-0 on Sunday to boost their possibilities of a top-four end in Brazil’s Serie A and halt Santos’ mini revival.

The former Brazil striker acquired the opener two minutes into the second half when he turned neatly within the field and scored with a low shot. Gabriel doubled their lead 4 minutes from fulltime when he completed off an help from Jo.

The win leaves Corinthians in fourth spot, one level forward of Fortaleza and Red Bull Bragantino with 4 video games of the season remaining.

The outcome was a disappointment for Santos, who after flirting with relegation rallied to choose up 13 factors from their earlier 18.

Santos ended the afternoon in eleventh place within the 20-team desk, with 42 factors, 11 behind Corinthians.
