Flipkart acquires electronics recommerce platform Yaantra – Bengaluru News

The acquisition, stated Flipkart, will increase its present refurbishment enterprise within the smartphone class.

“Through the acquisition of Yaantra, we are enhancing our capabilities in a domain that is critical for the growth of the digital economy in India, as well as developing a comprehensive service ecosystem to support its expansion,” stated Ravi Iyer, Senior Vice President and Head, Corporate Development, Flipkart.

Founded in 2013 by Jayant Jha, Ankit Saraf and Anmol Gupta, Yaantra repairs and sells refurbished shopper tech merchandise corresponding to smartphones and laptops.

The recommerce market in India is rising at a fast tempo.

However, the Indian smartphone refurbishment market is essentially unorganised and fragmented, which has posed belief and comfort points for finish shoppers.

With the acquisition of Yaantra, Flipkart stated it should allow better entry to inexpensive refurbished smartphones, providing worth and comfort for the tip shoppers.

The Yaantra workforce will assist Flipkart construct capabilities on this area and speed up its recommerce scale-up plans.

The enterprise will report back to Prakash Sikaria, Senior Vice President and Head of Flipkart’s Growth Charter.
