GoDaddy security breach exposes WordPress customers’ data

Nov 22 (Reuters) – Web internet hosting firm GoDaddy Inc (GDDY.N) stated on Monday e mail addresses of as much as 1.2 million lively and inactive Managed WordPress prospects had been uncovered in an unauthorized third-party entry.

The firm stated the incident was found on Nov. 17 and the third-party accessed the system utilizing a compromised password.

“We identified suspicious activity in our Managed WordPress hosting environment and immediately began an investigation with the help of an IT forensics firm and contacted law enforcement,” Chief Information Security Officer Demetrius Comes stated in a filing.

The firm, whose shares fell about 1.6% in early buying and selling, stated it had instantly blocked the unauthorized third social gathering, and an investigation was nonetheless happening.
