No clear path for unfreezing Afghan funds, Qatar foreign minister says


DOHA, Oct 13 (Reuters) – There isn’t any clear path for unfreezing Afghan authorities funds, Qatar’s foreign minister advised a convention on Wednesday, highlighting the financial challenges Afghanistan faces below its new Taliban rulers.

Qatar is internet hosting talks between the Taliban and Western officers and is seen as having affect over the Taliban motion.

Much of the Afghan central financial institution’s $10 billion in property are parked abroad.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, reiterated Qatar’s place that recognising the Taliban authorities was not at present a precedence, however worldwide engagement was necessary. learn extra
