Lenoir-Rhyne University football participant Omari Alexander was shot and killed early Saturday, police in North Carolina mentioned.

Alexander, 19, was shot and killed exterior of a Hickory condominium advanced at round 1 a.m., police mentioned. Police are investigating the shooting as a homicide.

“Omari was a special young man who had a bright future. He will always be remembered fondly by his teammates and the LR community,” Lenoir-Rhyne vice chairman of athletics Kim Pate mentioned in a press release.
